Royal Opera House Liege 2009: a rare moment when a thousand young electronic fans in the sold out opera house realised that they enjoy classical opera singers and went nuts.
Performers of the Royal Opera found themselves in an unusual position, playing on stage alongside New Opera Hero musicians, in a concert installation which is loosely based on a framework of the parallel dynamics inside a family and the microcosm of molecules that they are seemingly part of.
The conductor becomes a scientist who observes and directs his “experiments”, and the musicians are characters inside the universe that is created on stage. Together with the technical wizardry, circus performance and reactive visuals this show took the audience on a journey to discover a universe that we all live in and yet are utterly unaware of.
12 performers. Min Stage dimensions: 9 meters wide, 7 meters deep, 7 meters high
The “Cello Hero” game scene from our show at the Royal Opera is one of the few moments that includes drums. This Ravel variation shows how the music crosses genres fluently from electronica to abstract soundscape and classical opera.
MUSIC
Because NewOperaHero create music as part of their overall show it is influenced by story, visual and performance elements and following these can move from classical opera to electronica and beyond. What matters is the flow between the styles taking the audience on an unpredictable journey.
